About Us

The CARE Lab at the University of Pittsburgh studies how parental care promotes healthy child emotion regulation and expression in infants, children, and adolescents. We are interested in how parental mental health may influence both parenting and child emotion development.

Our lab uses innovative neuroimaging methods to evaluate parent and child brain responses while engaging in fun activites together. We hope that our studies will provide insight into new ways to help children become emotionally healthy and resilient, especially in children whose parents cope with depression.
